(Detail) “When They Fall” (Small Petal Gestalt Assemblage), is a small piece from my most recent body of work. The collection consists of larger scale works in grid and gestalt patterns made with flower petals. Like most of my work, these pieces are an exploration of fragility, impermanence, life’s spark and its end; as well as my desire to protect, collect, and acknowledge. These works are made with flower petals that I have dyed, dried and laminated. Once the petals have been pressed and dried, I carefully cut out each one from the protective film and methodically lay them out into a specific pattern.
