I'm excited to be invited to participate in the Plainview All School Reunion Show at the Contemporary Art Museum in my hometown of Plainview, Texas. I am submitting three pieces from my Zoetic body of work, two of which are brand new and have never been shown before. The show starts July 17th with an opening reception in conjunction with Plainview's All School Reunion Event. The work will remain on display for through the summer.

Zoetic

I have a solo show coming up. The exhibition is titled “Zoetic”. It will include insect paintings from my current body of work, most of which have not been exhibited before. I am excited to see how they are received by an audience.
At its core, my work is about “life”; Defined as: a principle or force that is considered to underlie the distinctive quality of animate beings. I am especially interested in the delicate nature of life, its brevity and fragility. I strive to capture the delicacy and impermanence of life within my work; I feel that (because of their fragile forms) flowers and insects express this well.
In “Zoetic” insects are my protagonists for an allegory of life; I present them in a way that speaks of our human experience. Some of the paintings are based on a single word that describes a life situation or state of being. Others are simply an attempt to capture the fragility and impermanent forms of the insects in a state of stasis, reminding us of our own ephemerality.

My show will be at Ro2Art Gallery in the Project Room, starting May 22nd and will be on going for four weeks. Register with Eventbrite to attend the opening.
